New MD at PEC outlines 2012 expansion plans

Bradford contracting, manufacturing and shopfitting firm PEC has ambitious plans for 2012 including investments in a bespoke manufacturing division.

Company founder Balbir Panesar, who takes on the role of Chairman, remains as passionate as ever about the business – and is keen to use his new position to grow it internationally. New Managing Director Sohan Panesar assumes responsibility for the day-to-day management that drives the business forward, building on the growth achieved in 2011.

Balbir, who founded PEC in 1977 as a solo operation, has seen his company grow to become one that refits, refurbishes and builds from scratch throughout the country for high street names including Homebase, Morrisons, and Magnet as well as NHS Trusts and Bupa.

He says, “As PEC moves into its next phase of growth, Sohan has great enthusiasm, a wealth of experience and a talent for nurturing business that will be great assets to the company going forward. I am looking forward to travelling to explore new business opportunities in foreign markets, and to building on the excellent relationships we have with clients around the world.”

Balbir’s son Sohan joined the firm in 1999 as a CAD/Trainee Projects Technician, rising to Projects Director. He now takes over in the hot seat. Sohan says, “I am excited at the prospect of leading PEC as we develop new opportunities at home and abroad for the business. We have a fantastic and dedicated team and I’m proud to take over at the helm."
