Armstrong Watson has added Tom Blandford as Legal Sector Director, where he will focus on supporting lawyers throughout Yorkshire and the UK with specialised advice.
His appointment follows an upsurge in demand for the firm’s specialist legal sector services, which include succession planning, buying, selling and merging law firms.
Over the last year the legal sector team has had 67 new instructions from law firms and are currently running at a rate of two new instructions per week.
To keep up with this unprecedented demand, Mr Blandford brings with him over 13 years’ experience in not only auditing large businesses but also in advising and supporting them to help them to understand their financial picture and plan for the future.
Mr Blandford joins Armstrong Watson’s Leeds office from Grant Thornton, having previously worked with PWC and Deloitte.
He said: “I was attracted to Armstrong Watson being the only firm endorsed by The Law Society to provide accountancy services in the North of England as well offering specialist services in one package. It’s so much more than just giving clients financial information – we can bring in strategic advice from across our business and help law firms make the right decisions for their futures whether that involves strategic advice, mergers, changes in structure or generating more profits and cash. Andy and the team work really well together delivering very high levels of service which they are known for and I’m very excited to be part of such a highly regarded team.”
Andy Poole, Legal Sector Partner, added: “We are experiencing very high levels of growth in demand for our legal sector services and have established a fantastic reputation in the market which we are very proud of.
“As we grow, we need to ensure that our clients continue to receive a service that is second to none, and Tom’s appointment will help to ensure that. Tom brings with him valuable knowledge and experience which I know will benefit our clients. Tom will focus 100% of him time on supporting lawyers, which means that we have even more dedicated resource to the legal sector and are best placed to support lawyers and legal firms throughout the UK. We are delighted to continue to build upon our success so that we can protect the law firms that we support and advise.”
