Doncaster-based internet service provider and network operator, Origin Broadband, has secured a further £2 million from Calculus Capital.

The investment and venture capital trust specialist first invested in Origin back in December 2016.

Since then, the company has gained new residential customers, surpassing its projected numbers by over 300%.

The company has also more than doubled its headcount in the interim.

Now, Calculus has invested a further £2 million which will provide working capital to support Origin’s level of customer acquisition.

It will also be used to bolster headcount and client service provision.

Richard Moore, Head of New Investments at Calculus Capital, said: “[Origin Broadband] has achieved significant growth since our last investment, particularly in the residential market.

“This second round of funding will enable to Origin to support its enlarged customer base and focus on growing the SME (leased line) side of the business.”
