Hill & Smith acquires Hull Galvanizing firm for £15.5 Million

Hull manufacturer Premier Galvanizing has been bought by international group Hill & Smith Holdings plc for £15.5m.

Premier, is an independent galvanizing works that has built a business turning over £8.3m and last year enjoyed £2.3m profits. The company recently expanded in to the East Midlands area, and will enhance Hill’s offering as these regions were not previously covered by their existing plant network.

Hill and Smith’s operations , headquartered in the UK employs some 4,000 staff across 56 sites in Infrastructure Products for  utilities and for  roads, as well as  galvanizing Services, which provides zinc and other coatings for a wide range of products including fencing, lighting columns, structural steel work, bridges, agricultural and other products for the infrastructure and construction markets.

Derek Muir, Hill’s Group Chief Executive, commented: “Overall, conditions in many of our end markets are generally encouraging and we continue to expect the Group to report good progress for 2015. Accordingly, we remain on track to meet the Board’s expectations for the full year”
