The final wind turbine has been installed at Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm, located off the Lincolnshire cost, and will be fully operational in early 2018.
With the last turbine installed, all 91 are not fully capable of producing green energy, Ørsted said.
Race Bank is comprised of Siemens 6 MW turbines many of which sport the first blades manufactured at the company’s blade factory in Hull.
“This has been one of the more difficult projects to execute with challenging seabed conditions and a complex export cable route,” said David Summers, Project Director for Race Bank at Ørsted UK.
“Construction has progressed well and we’re right on schedule – this is an important milestone to reach.
He added: “We’re now looking forward to completing construction and seeing a fully operational wind farm next year that will be capable of powering over half a million UK homes.”
