Conducting effective pre-employment checks can validateinformation, verify Right to Work in the UK, and protect vulnerablechildren and adults through DBS checks on individuals. The availability of fake/stolen documents, and high profile cases ofbogus doctors, nannies working illegally and teachers being struck offdue to fake references, serve to remind us of the importance of pre-checks.Our reputation, the safety of those we care for and the threat ofheavy fines and sanctions, should be sufficient reasons to evaluate ourrisks and put in place a considered screening process.
