Grocery firm puts £1.4m into Making a Difference

NIsa Retail

The Making a Difference Locally charity operated by grocery distributor Nisa gave £1.4m to good causes in 2016 –  the largest annual total amount since its formation in 2008.

The sum involved about 2,000 donations made to community groups, charities, schools, sports clubs and more.

Donations made through Making a Difference Locally in 2016 funded a wide variety of items and projects, from football equipment for local youth teams, to community defibrillators and even a boat for Sea Cadets to learn to sail in.

Kate Carroll, Making a Difference Locally charity manager, commented: “We are delighted with the amount donated through Making a Difference Locally in 2016 as the donations made will make a huge difference to almost 2,000 causes across the UK, particularly those smaller charities and community groups which rely on public support.

“We are thrilled that last year was another record year for the charity, delivering some amazing, life-changing donations to local communities, which we hope to see even more of in 2017!”

The charity raises funds in independently owned convenience stores that are members of the Nisa family, through the sale of items from Nisa’s own-label Heritage range and a selection of branded products which carry charitable donations from the suppliers. The charity has been proudly supporting good causes since 2008 and to date has donated almost £7 million in total.
