Abingdon Health expands York base after revenues rise 90%

Abingdon Health is expanding its facility at York’s National Agri-Food Innovation Campus following a successful year.

The expansion will see its footprint grow by 42%, providing more space and capabilities as the manufacturer of lateral flow rapid diagnostic tests continues grow.

It will include new quality-control and research and development laboratories, increased assembly space and client meeting rooms.

The firm will also be able to accommodate the rising demand for customer on-site visits as well as expanding the manufacturing capacity.

In 2019, the firm experience a 90% rise in revenues driven by several new contract wins and the development of its AppDx Smartphone reader software. The app, it said, was the catalyst for its expansion.

The expansion activities were overseen by Operations Director Michael Hunter who said it will offer the “ability to invest in our team and continue to meet the increasing demand for our assay and reader services”.
