Card Factory, the Wakefield-headquartered greetings card and gifts retailer, is appointing Paul Moody as its new Chairman to replace outgoing Geoff Cooper.

Mr Cooper will retire from his current position and from the Board later this week due to personal health-related reasons.

He will now be replaced by Mr Moody following a extensive search process led by the company’s Senior Independent Non-Executive Director Octavia Morley.

Mr Moody spent almost 20 years at Britvic, one of the leading branded soft drinks businesses in Europe, including 8 years as CEO. In this role, he led its IPO in 2005 and several significant acquisitions.

He is Chairman of 4imprint Group plc, the direct marketer of promotional products in the US, Canada and UK, and is Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Pets at Home Group.

He was also previously Chairman of Johnson Service Group until stepping down in August 2018.

Mr Cooper said: “It has been a pleasure to chair the Card Factory business over the four years since IPO. We have achieved a lot with a great business, returning £295.4 million, representing c86.6 pence per share, to shareholders since our IPO in 2014.

“I am pleased to hand over to Paul as the Group continues to implement its growth strategy and I wish the business every success for the future.”
