With the countdown to Brexit quickly ticking away, Business Link Magazine invites a select number of the region’s business leaders to offer their thoughts. Here we talk with Steff Wright, CEO of Gusto Group
This period of Brexit unrest has seen the number of viewings across the whole housing market fall dramatically over the past few weeks as people decide to put their plans on hold.
As housebuilders we want to continue playing our role in building the houses that the country needs despite this period of Brexit fuelled uncertainty. Once the dust finally settles, people will still need to move to a new home whether it is first time buyers, growing families or downsizers. We will still have a shortage of houses and prices in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire will continue to rise as more people relocate from the South East.
On our Woodlands Edge development in Lincoln we have decided to reward buyers who secure plots during this Brexit Countdown period with valuable discounts and incentives to keep sales moving and keep our team building.
Some developers are understandably slowing their build programs down and this will result in less new homes being built and the government missing their housing targets. Whatever the outcome of Brexit, people will get back on with their lives and the government will return to criticising the housebuilding industry for not building enough new homes.
