Freeths’ Sheffield office continues to grow its business and commercial offering with the recruitment of a new Partner and Associate to its Sheffield Dispute Resolution team. These appointments strengthen the already excellent depth and breadth of Freeths’ northern commercial disputes service provision.
James Berry joined in April from Irwin Mitchell LLP where he was a Partner and worked for almost 12 years. James specialises in commercial dispute resolution and advises clients across a wide variety of commercial and business disputes with a particular specialism in the manufacturing, food and technology sectors and in dealing with high value and complex litigation. He is recognised in Legal 500 which states that he “works stupendously hard and is clever and easy to work with.”
Also joining with James from Irwin Mitchell LLP is Ciaran Dearden who is an Associate and was shortlisted in 2017 for the Junior Lawyer of the Year by the Law Society of England and Wales. Ciaran also deals with a wide variety of commercial disputes and has particular experience in supporting both directors and shareholders and matters involving fraud.
James and Ciaran are the latest additions to Freeths’ growing Sheffield office and follow the Dispute Resolution team’s previous appointments of Senior Associate Mark Gudgeon and Associate Lisa Greenstreet.
John May, Managing Partner for Sheffield, commented: “I am delighted to announce James and Ciaran’s appointment which coincides with our move into brand new office space at 3 St Pauls Place. They are both well known across South Yorkshire and have worked together for a number of years.
“Their appointments will add further skill and experience to the firm and build upon the great offering we already have. Sheffield is a vibrant, growing market and I am sure James and Ciaran will thrive at Freeths.”
James Berry added: “Joining Freeths is an exciting and fantastic opportunity and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth and success both in Sheffield and across Yorkshire.”
