Sheffield’s energy storage and clean fuel company ITM Power has secured £3.2 million enabling it to deliver a 0.5MW refuelling station and 51 Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles.

This new funding is part of a wider £14 million competition from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).

OLEV provides financing to a consortium to fund hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure projects.

ITM Power will now receive £1.8 million for the refuelling station, which will be delivered in the next 12 months.

Over the last eight weeks, ITM Power has won sales and project awards of £7.1 million. This brings the contract backlog to a total of £35.7 million – of which £23.2 million is under contract and a further £12.5 million is in the final stages of negotiation.

Graham Cooley, CEO of ITM Power, said: “We welcome the continued commitment by OLEV to the rollout of hydrogen infrastructure in the UK and are delighted to be able to announce a major new station in the south of England which both provides fuel for vehicles but also backup capacity for our whole network.”
