Gough and Kelly takes on six apprentices amid growth

Gough and Kelly is continuing its recruitment drive and commitment to developing young talent by recruiting six new apprentices across the business, starting in September.

The Yorkshire based security firm recently added 50 new positions to its staff after landing the prestigious LNER Community Stadium contract in York. As a result of this continued growth, Gough and Kelly has established additional apprenticeship positions in various specialties as part of its development plans.

The company has recruited two apprentice security engineers to its three-year level 3 ‘trail blazer’ course. Created in 2017, the apprenticeship programme includes all of the practical elements trainees need to become engineers straight from training.

In addition, Gough and Kelly has taken on two customer service administrator apprentices based at its Leeds head office, working towards the level 2 customer service practitioner qualification. The company has also employed a business administrator to work alongside the project manager, who will earn a Level 3 qualification in business administration, and an IT team apprentice who will train towards a level 3 ICT qualification.

The apprentices will all attend Leeds City College one day a week as part of their educational journey and have a permanent position waiting for them at Gough and Kelly once they complete their courses. All apprentices will have a ‘buddy’ to mentor them through the twists and turns of learning.

Laine Morris, group HR director at Gough and Kelly, said: “We are really happy that we have been able to offer more apprentice positions this year due to company growth. We are passionate about youth development and look forward to guiding our new team members in their careers.”
