Marketing agency gears up to promote Leeds as a business destination on Yorkshire Day

PR agency The Marketing Optimist is using Yorkshire Day to showcase why Leeds is the place to be when it comes to running a business.

The campaign will see the Leeds-based marketing consultancy tour the city, recording some of the industry’s most iconic businesspeople as they share their views on why doing business in Leeds and Yorkshire, is paramount to their success.

Using 20 years’ marketing expertise, Market Optimist will use the campaign to highlight the power of social media and how utilising trending hashtags such as #Yorkshireday, can strengthen a business’ marketing strategy.

Richard Michie, CEO of The Marketing optimist said; “Across the county, many people come together on August 1st to celebrate Yorkshire and its fine culture. Celebrations traditionally include travelling around the county and enjoying fine Yorkshire food and drink.

“This year we wanted to step away from self-indulgence and focus our efforts towards raising the profile of fellow Yorkshire businesses, showing the world exactly why Leeds and Yorkshire are the places to be when it comes to running a business.”

Amongst the list of confirmed participants are Tom Riordan and Judith Blake of Leeds City Council, Chris Allen of Blacks Solicitors and Jodie Hill of Thrive Law.

Others set to take part include; Martin Johnson of YourBigPic, Gary Butterfield of Everyday Juice, Natasha Babar-Evans of Wizu Workspace, Sean Mclean of Key West Pest Control, Mark Walsh of Quizbit, Gemma Birbeck of Leuly Photography and PR, Dan Gill of Dine and Melanie Parker of Graft Talent.

Richard added: “Many businesses, especially SMEs, don’t have the budget to invest in marketing, so we want to show them how using simple techniques on social media can increase brand awareness and reach.”

The campaign will be live across social media from today, with the height of activity taking place on Yorkshire Day itself, followed by the release of a YouTube mini-film mid-August.
