Merger deal for historic Sheffield law firm

Bell & Buxton, a historic law firm based in Sheffield, is merging with niche commercial firm, Ironmonger Curtis.

The merger will bring all the advantages of a larger firm – structure, support and depth of experience – with a strong culture and a commitment to quality.

The creation of Bell & Buxton Solicitors incorporating Ironmonger Curtis Solicitors will create an ability to offer clients an extended range of legal advice in both commercial and private client arenas.

“This merger represents an important step for our expanding presence in Sheffield and we are delighted to have found the ideal partner in Ironmonger Curtis,” said Alex Ross, Managing Partner of Bell & Buxton, which has been operating in Sheffield since 1875.

“We have been looking to increase our commercial offering. We wanted to join with a firm whose business plan and culture was aligned to ours in allowing us to grow and best serve our client base, as well as being able to introduce our specialist corporate and commercial services to the many first-class companies for whom Ironmonger Curtis act and the commercial Sheffield market.”

Trevor Ironmonger, co-founder of Ironmonger Curtis, added: “The merger consolidates our leading position in South Yorkshire and enables us to offer our clients a far wider range of business and personal legal services where they require it.”

“We look forward to growing the new firm for the advantage of our clients and staff and are very excited about the opportunities the merger will enable.”
