New house-building company launched in Yorkshire

Leeds-based contractor, Ashfield Building Group, is joining forces with a new development partner following the launch of Ashfield Homes Ltd.

With private financial backing to purchase up to six sites per annum, Ashfield Homes is a new stand-alone company which is actively engaged with the regional industry to procure and secure land that fits its business model. The developer will focus on sites of between 3 and 15 units in size. Ashfield Homes has already identified suitable opportunities at various locations in Yorkshire with a view to commencing its first development in the second quarter of this year.

A privately-owned contractor which operates throughout the Yorkshire region, Ashfield Building Group will be one of Ashfield Homes’ key delivery partners for new build housing of circa £10m in Gross Development Value per annum.

As part of the model, Ashfield Homes has appointed Steve Secker as chairman of the board to assist in the delivery of the company’s strategy. Currently a non-executive director at Ashfield Building Group, Steve has a wealth of experience gained from 24 years at McCarthy & Stone, the retirement living developer, where he spent 13 years as regional managing director in the North. Steve also chairs the York Property Forum and York Housing Association.

Joel Ramsden, director at Ashfield Building Group, said: “The launch of Ashfield Homes is another landmark in the growth of our business. This exciting new development brand will benefit from Steve’s outstanding expertise. He has built an exceptional portfolio of work comprising housing consultancy, executive mentoring and non-executive roles. He will bring invaluable strategic input to the in-house team at Ashfield Homes.”

Steve Secker said: “Ashfield Homes will be able to draw upon the proven technical skills, experience and quality-led culture of Ashfield Building Group, an ISO9001-accredited company which boasts a diverse and impressive portfolio of highly successful residential projects, including many new build sites. They will certainly be a safe pair of hands in the delivery of Ashfield Homes’ ambitious development plans. We are currently seeking other land acquisition opportunities and potential joint venture partnering opportunities to map out a long-term build programme.”
