Scunthorpe-based specialist grocery wholesaler Nisa Retail has secured a new £75m contract with leading Channel Islands-based retail company Sandpiper CI.
The contract signifies an extension to an existing long-standing partnership, which sees Nisa secure the business as supplier of its grocery lines to Sandpiper CI, while the Channel Islands-based retailer benefits from the supply of top branded products and an extensive fresh food offering through Nisa’s distribution service.
Nick Henderson, Buying Director for Sandpiper CI said: “Strategic partners are key for future success and this agreement is good news for both companies”.
The relationship between Sandpiper CI and Nisa began about 30 years ago. The decision to renew the contract on a five-year deal was influenced by Nisa’s unrivalled distribution service, broad product range and availability of its multi-award winning Heritage range.
James Roberts, Nisa’s head of independent and specialist said: “This agreement represents another significant business deal for Nisa. We’re delighted to have agreed to extend the contract with Sandpiper and look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with them. We’ve worked closely with the team there for many years and this partnership is mutually beneficial to both companies.”
The announcement follows recent news that Nisa had signed a five-year deal worth £1bn to supply the new My Local estate of 140 stores, as well as extending its partnership with leading UK food export company Ramsden International in a supply deal worth up to £250 million over five years.
Nisa currently supports over 1,200 local retailers and 2,500 stores across the UK. Some operate under the Nisa brand and others under their own names and fascias. Nisa supplies the stock, guidance and retail support that helps them to run and grow their business.
