National back-up generator and UPS services provider PPSPower has appointed George Barraclough to lead on operations in Yorkshire.

George is a highly qualified electrical engineer, who, at the age of 67, has more than 35 years’ experience in the back-up power and FM sectors. Prior to joining PPSPower, George was facilities manager working for CBRE on behalf of a major retail client. He also spent nine years working for Applied Power Engineering in Rotherham as a project manager, commissioning engineer, and tech support for ComAp generator controllers and generator installations.

At PPSPower he will be responsible for overseeing several major contracts in the Yorkshire region. He will also support and mentor the firm’s mechanical engineers to further develop their electrical capabilities.

Steve Peal, MD of PPSPower, said: “I’m delighted to be welcoming George to the PPSPower team. His vast experience in electrical engineering project management has been key to his appointment, while his passion for the job and motivation to continue working into his later years will no doubt provide inspiration for the younger members of our team.”

“At PPSPower, we pride ourselves on a diverse approach to recruitment which benefits our customers. George’s age is no obstacle to his competency- indeed, his many years of experience in the power sector will prove extremely valuable to our business, especially when mentoring our apprentices and younger team members. We look forward to working with him and seeing his talents in practice.”

PPSPower works for organisations in a large range of sectors, providing nationwide back-up power solutions for clients in commercial, healthcare, manufacturing and retail environments, amongst others. The company provides generator and UPS services nationally for companies such as UNITE, Tesco, Kiely Bros, Menzies Distribution and several of the UK’s police forces.
