Rob’s cycle marathon raises almost £800 for Children in Need

Eight hours of non-stop cycling saw Rob Carpenter of Scunthorpe-based Unique Party cover more than 175 miles for Children in Need, raising £382 from his colleagues and a similar amount from the company, creating a total donation of £764.26.

Had he been on the road, the distance covered would have been from the party paperware company’s East Common Lane premises in Scunthorpe to Buckingham Palace, and ending with a nine-mile spin around the gardens.

Cheered on by colleagues dressed in onesies, Rob averaged just over 21 miles an hour throughout the day, burned 3,200 calories and put in 36,500 pedal strokes.

Children in Need is the BBC’s UK charity, and since 1980 it has raised over £600 million to change the lives of disabled children and young people in the UK.
