Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Chief Operating Officer announces move abroad

Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Chief Operating Officer (COO) Brenda Jordan has announced she will be stepping down from the Chamber as she is planning a permanent move to Spain.

Brenda joined the city business support organisation in 2005 as HR & Accreditation Manager before being promoted to Operations Director in 2015. She managed the implementation of the Chamber’s new service-based membership which has been extremely successful since it was launched in 2016.

In 2018 Brenda was promoted to COO with full responsibility for the running of the membership and member services, training, international trade, events, marketing, and staff management. In January 2019 the organisation reported its best performing month on record as well as the launch of the new Sheffield International Trade Centre.

Sheffield Chamber President Steve Manley said: “Brenda has helped take the Chamber from loss-making to its most profitable performance in years. Brenda and her husband Joe bought property in Murcia, Spain nine years ago and after many visits and enjoying the Spanish lifestyle they have decided to move there permanently.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with Brenda and her presence, enthusiasm, experience and positive outlook will be missed by everybody associated with the Chamber. I wish her all the very best for the future.”

Director of Policy & Representation Richard Wright said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Brenda since I started working more closely with the Chamber in 2010. Without her I do not think we would be in the strong position we are now with strong finances, a singular focus on members’ needs, and a strong voice in the city. I really do wish her well in Spain.”

Brenda said: “I am proud and very pleased to have played my part during an extremely valuable, interesting and successful time at Sheffield Chamber, I have met some great people over the years.

“The Chamber team are dedicated and committed, and I know they will continue to work hard to help grow and connect businesses in the region and support our members’ continued growth. I would like to thank the Board and all the team for their support during my time and wish them every success for the future.”

Brenda will step down from her role on 31st August 2019. The Board will review the organisation structure and business needs and further details will follow in due course.
