Thirsk-based Potter Plant Hire has expanded into Leeds and opened a new depot after acquiring a rare industrial site on Cross Green Industrial Estate.
The site, marketed by property consultancy Gent Visick, offers 2.6 acres of floodlit, secure space, complete with CCTV and a 2,100 sq. ft. industrial unit.
Potter Plant Hire was established with just one excavator in 1994 by Giles Potter and now operates a fleet of more than 150 tracked and wheeled excavators, dump-trucks, rollers, motor graders and dozers, with a network of skilled operators throughout the UK.
The company will use the Cross Green site to securely store machines working on all types of construction projects throughout Leeds and West Yorkshire, ranging from domestic jobs through to major civil engineering and motorway contracts. Part of the site is also let to Morrison Utility Services.
Giles Potter said: “Leeds has always been a big market for us and we’re now continually working on construction projects throughout the area. Establishing this second base, where we can store machines, rather than transporting them back and forth to Thirsk, is significantly increasing our efficiency and cost effectiveness when quoting for work in West Yorkshire and beyond.
“The site is fully secure and it’s just a mile from both Leeds city centre and junction 45 of the M1, so it ticked all the boxes and we’re already seeing the benefits of it.”
Paul Mack, Director at Gent Visick, said: “Surfaced commercial land in Leeds has become an extremely rare commodity, especially in highly sought-after locations such as Cross Green Industrial Estate, which is once again one of the city’s prime industrial addresses. The site generated a significant amount of interest and we are delighted to agree this sale to Potter Plant Hire, which will enable the company to continue building its presence within the North of England’s construction industry.”
