Time Out: Austin Brown, General Manager – Vice President of Black Cat Fireworks

It’s almost the weekend and that means another ‘Time Out’. This week’s questions are answered by Austin Brown, General Manager – Vice President of Black Cat Fireworks.

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

The ideal weekend starts by making some handmade pizzas, opening a cold beer and playing a few games of pool with my wife. Oh dear, I just realised I must be getting old!

What is your hobby?

I love skiing. It’s one of my favourite things to do to relax and switch off from work for a short while. Also, I recently became a father, so spending time with my family and watching my new-born son develop is my current obsession.

What is your favourite movie?

Pulp Fiction. I still remember the first time I watched it and wondered where on earth the plot was going, before it all got pulled together at the end! It also has some great scriptwriting, just to top it off.

If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?

I’d be running a small bar in a ski resort, or perhaps working for a ski company. I love skiing and being on the slopes!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

The ability to multiply myself so I could be several places at once. There are so many places I want to see and so many people I want to spend my time with, it’s hard to fit everything in.

What is your favourite genre of music?

I enjoy a wide range of music but if I had to pick one, I would go with funky house. This genre reminds me of the 90s piano dance scene, but also introduces some jazz funk into the mix.

If you could travel to any moment in time, where would you go?

I would like to go a few hundred years into the future to see what we have done with our planet and wildlife. It’s great to see more awareness around our impact on the wildlife through waste and deforestation, I just fear it may be too little, too late. So, I would be hoping to see a revitalised natural world.
