Time Out: Helen Byram, founder of Buzz Safety

The weekend is almost back again and that means it’s time to relax with another ‘Time Out’. This week’s questions are answered by Helen Byram, founder of health and safety consultancy, Buzz Safety who it turns out infuses her own gin…

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

After I get back from my son’s rugby training, I have a home-infused raspberry gin and tonic – and maybe a curry.

What is your hobby?

It’s difficult to find the time, as I spend most of it running the kids around, but I do like to grow veg in the garden. I also bake/make puddings and have just started infusing gin.

What is your favourite movie?

That is a really hard one, I could name hundreds! I will go for the first film I remember that made an impression on me as a child – and that is Calamity Jane.

It you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead of a career?

I think I would definitely still have had a career. A special effects make-up artist, I think. It stems from my love of movies. I did an evening class once and it was fascinating.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

To be able to Disapparate and Apparate. I hate sitting in traffic!

What is your favourite genre of music?

That is tricky to answer, I have very eclectic music tastes. If I had to choose a band as my favourite it would be the Saw Doctors, so I guess I would say my favourite genre is Folk-Rock. But there are so many others that I like.

If you could travel to any moment in time, where would you go?

I find so many periods in history interesting, but probably the 1950s. I love the fashion and the music, and it was a period of real hope and advancement after the end of WW2.
