It’s almost the weekend and that means another ‘Time Out’. This week’s edition features Mark Aldridge, Director of Operations for UK and Spain at Campanile UK. Born and bred in Sheffield, Mark currently resides in Huddersfield.
What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?
Probably check what my son is doing. For a number of years, whilst he was pre-teen he would spend each weekend with me. But now he’s 17 he’s making his own way in life; friends, girlfriend and he’s driving now. So I’d probably check to see what he’s doing before I then make plans for myself.
What is your hobby?
I love the outdoors and living in Yorkshire gives me some great opportunities, whatever the weather, to get out and walk across the Dales, etc.
What is your favourite movie?
The Full Monty, it was filmed across Sheffield (my home town) and it was good to see some of my old haunts.
If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?
I worked in the family business for a number of years, which gave me my retail background. But I would have probably pursued a career in the Police. Both my son and young sister work as civilians within the Police service for GMP and South Yorkshire.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Probably teleportation, getting around these days on roads/rail/air is too congested and we waste so much time getting to places.
What is your favourite genre of music or artist?
Coldplay, I was lucky enough to see them at the Etihad Stadium a few years ago.
If you could travel to anywhere where would you go?
I’ve been lucky enough, with my current role, to travel to many places across Europe, but guess right now I’d probably like to fly to Australia/New Zealand.
