The weekend is here once again, and that means some more quickfire questions. This time around, we’re speaking to Matthew Briggs, CEO of the AutoProtect Group, whose FinTech firm DealTrak is based at the iconic Leeds Dock.

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

I know it might be a little cliché, but I always like to wash the car. I work in automotive – what do you expect?!

What is your hobby?

Rugby union and the gym. If I’ve had a hectic, stressful day, I like to exercise by working up a sweat on the treadmill, weight training or using a punch bag – depending the level of pressure!

What is your favourite movie?

Pulp Fiction. It’s an absolute classic.

If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?

I’m not sure I had a clear view of what I wanted to be when I was little, but had I not taken the path that I did, I would have ended up as a lawyer – or similar.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

Invisibility! Think of the eavesdropping opportunities to be had…

What is your favourite genre of music?

This is such a difficult question! I absolutely love music, and I listen to different things according to my mood – and what I’m doing. You can find anything from trance to country on my Spotify playlist, but holding a long-term position on my top five favourite songs is ‘Pretty Vacant’ by Sex Pistols.

If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?

To when my grandmother was born in 1912. She’s still alive today – aged 107 – and has some fantastic stories to tell!
