Winvic Construction Ltd has completed its fourth scheme under the Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) highways framework.
The Carholme Road and A46/A57 Roundabout project in Lincoln marks another milestone in Winvic’s ongoing partnership with LCC to deliver essential highways improvements across the county.
Valued at £1.9m, the scheme forms part of a series of strategic upgrades to improve traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure resilience on key routes around Lincoln. The works involved complex civil engineering improvements along Carholme Road – between Nelson Street and the A57 Saxilby Road – and to the westbound carriageway of the A46 at Carholme Roundabout, including adjoining side roads.
Over the four-and-a-half-month construction period, Winvic’s site team carried out extensive resurfacing, drainage, and pavement reconstruction activities.
In total, more than 4,300 tonnes of road-building materials were laid, 290 metres of new highways drainage and 41 new gullies installed, and 250 metres of failing kerbs and drainage channels replaced. The works also included 9,000m² of carriageway resurfacing, 800m² of new footway construction, and the refurbishment of three uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, including those at Gresham Street and Staunton Street, to enhance accessibility and safety.
Around 25% of the workforce at the Carholme Road project was from within Lincolnshire. The project also supported a local graduate and two apprentices, one of whom gained practical experience as an apprentice engineer while studying Civil Engineering at Lincoln College.
Winvic collaborated with Lincolnshire County Council on two community projects, volunteering to support a local church gardening initiative and Timberland Village. Additionally, the team contributed food donations to the Lincoln Foodbank.
