It’s the start of a new financial year and the end of the last, which means any budgets not spent are lost and our accountants are busier than ever. You can certainly feel the end of the budgets on the daily commute, with more roadworks than any other time of the year as local councils rush to spend every penny. It’s a strange thing, to think that we encourage the spurious expenditure and punish those who are frugal and manage to save. Here in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire it’s business as usual despite the busy month, and while we have plenty going on in this month’s issue of the magazine, it would be remiss not to thank those who came to attend the East Midlands Bricks Awards on the 28th March. Those that did would have had the dubious pleasure of listening to me speak and the much more genuine pleasure of seeing businesses in our region celebrated for their hard work. Our review of the event on page 16 is filled with all the information on the winners and runners-up, and despite being a relatively small part of the East Midlands, Lincolnshire performed exceptionally well. Aside from that, we have numerous other features this month, including office solutions and family business, while our news sections carry the most up-to-date and on-point business news and advice across the region. The introduction of a new website, online memberships, ‘Mumbot’ app and data management systems has resulted in an increase in subscriptions and also facilitated the charity’s expansion into Goole and Grimsby. The phased project came to fruition in February 2019 with the launch of the Fitmums and Friends mobile app. The charity now handles all of its admin and organisation online, with much of the process automated. Luke Foster, Umber Creative’s Web Director, said: “At every stage of the project, we focused on automation, the efficient handling of data and removing any manual processes. Fitmums and Friends can now roll out new groups without increasing their burden of paperwork, which is a massive leap forward for them.” © British Steel (L-R) SRLV Financial LLP financial adviser, Chris Reed; TPO CEO, Stuart Phillips and SRLV Financial LLP, financial adviser, Claire Menni 06-09.qxp_Layout 1 03/04/2019 10:18 Page 1‘Excellent year’ for video game maker Team17 Wakefield indie games maker, Team17, has seen revenues rise by 46% to £43.2 million for the year ended 31 December 2018.
