Whitaker Tankers has strengthened its fleet with the acquisition of the oil tanker FORTUNA II, purchased from Prax Shipping III BV and renamed WHITPROGRESS. The 86.71-metre vessel, built in Turkey in 2009, was formerly registered under the Marshall Islands flag and has since been transferred to the Isle of Man.
Hull-based Whitaker Tankers continues to invest in fleet modernisation as part of its long-term growth strategy. The acquisition process was supported by Andrew Jackson Solicitors, whose shipping and transport team conducted due diligence on the seller and oversaw the release of a mortgage held by a Taiwanese bank.
Mark Whitaker, managing director at Whitakers, said: “The acquisition of WHITPROGRESS marks another significant step in our ongoing investment programme as we continue to strengthen and modernise our fleet. The expertise and support provided by Rebecca Forder from Andrew Jackson’s shipping team was invaluable in navigating the complexities of this deal, particularly around the vessel’s registration and mortgage release.”
The deal reflects continued confidence within the UK maritime transport sector, where operators are prioritising efficiency and compliance through renewed investment in modern, sustainable assets.
