Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park in North Yorkshire has been placed on the market for £3 million. The 182-acre site, located near Ripon, includes extensive infrastructure and has 72 years remaining on a 99-year lease.
The park opened in 1969 and currently attracts more than 230,000 visitors annually. It features over 35 rides and themed attractions across woodland and lakeside grounds. The sale, listed on Rightmove, is reported to be under offer, indicating early buyer interest.
Lightwater Valley is best known for having once hosted The Ultimate, a roller coaster that held the world record for length between 1991 and 2000. The 7,442-foot ride was closed in 2019 and dismantled in 2023 as part of a wider shift in the park’s focus toward family-oriented experiences.
The property offers direct access to major transport routes, including the A1(M), positioning it as an established leisure destination with redevelopment potential.
In 2020, the park’s operators were fined £350,000 following a safety incident on the Twister roller coaster in 2019. Despite this, the site remains one of the most recognisable leisure assets in northern England, with prospects for repositioning under new ownership.
