A new round of funding is available to improve shop fronts along Ivegate, one of Bradford’s oldest streets. The initiative, supported by Historic England, is part of the city’s Heritage Action Zone and offers property owners access to a £2 million grant programme to restore façades and enhance the area’s commercial appeal.
The grants target visual and structural upgrades that maintain Ivegate’s historic character while supporting regeneration of the surrounding city centre. Only properties within the Heritage Action Zone are eligible, but Bradford Council has invited owners of nearby buildings to discuss other potential support options.
The project is part of a wider effort to strengthen the retail and hospitality environment in central Bradford, improving the business setting for independent traders and investors. By encouraging shop owners to restore and modernise their premises in line with heritage guidelines, the council aims to boost footfall, attract new tenants, and improve long-term economic activity in the area.
