A £145,000 investment has been approved to redevelop Scarth Gardens in Morley, Leeds, with works scheduled to begin at the end of November. The project forms part of the wider Morley Town Deal programme, which is focused on improving public spaces within the town’s designated boundary.
The plans include new footpaths, an access ramp, refurbished steps and updated fencing. Additional planting, bulb schemes and a sculpture trail will be introduced to enhance the site’s usability and environmental value. The improvements aim to increase biodiversity and create a more appealing green space for visitors and residents.
Leeds City Council expects the redevelopment to support local economic activity by improving the area’s appearance and safety, making the surroundings more attractive for existing businesses and potential investors. The scheme is also intended to encourage greater footfall into the town and offer long-term ecological benefits.
Groundwork Yorkshire contributed to the project’s design, working with the council to shape enhancements that support both community use and environmental resilience.
