A major employment development in Scunthorpe is set to move forward as councillors consider plans for a new business park offering up to 205,000 sq ft of space.
The project, submitted by Lindum Group to North Lincolnshire Council, proposes the creation of Stratum Park at the junction of the A18 and M181, an area with direct access to the M180, M18, and M62 corridors. The outline application seeks permission for a mix of industrial and logistics units ranging from 4,000 to 150,000 sq ft.
Council officers have recommended approval, subject to conditions, despite the site being earmarked initially for residential use under the 2016 Strategic Housing and Employment Land Allocation. The report supporting the decision states that the land is no longer considered suitable for housing and aligns broadly with regional economic and planning strategies aimed at boosting employment in North Lincolnshire.
Stratum Park would sit next to Gallagher Retail Park, home to major retailers including Tesco, Aldi, TK Maxx, and B&Q, and adjacent to the Lincolnshire Lakes urban development zone, marking a significant expansion of Scunthorpe’s commercial and industrial footprint.
