An online pharmacy operator has acquired a Bradford community pharmacy as consolidation continues across the sector. Pharmacy Care Direct, a long-established local business with strong NHS dispensing activity, has transferred ownership after more than two decades under the same operator.
Faisal Sheikh, the former owner of Pharmacy Care Direct, comments, “Having reviewed my portfolio, I made the tough decision to sell Pharmacy Care Direct after more than 20 years of ownership. I wish Shamas every success for the future.”
The sale aligns with a wider trend of digital-first operators expanding into physical premises to strengthen distribution capacity, streamline prescription handling and broaden patient access. Activity across the pharmacy market remains steady, with urban sites attracting particular interest due to stable footfall and service demand.
Tom Young, Senior Business Agent – Pharmacy at Christie & Co, comments, “It was a pleasure to facilitate this sale and act for Faisal. We achieved strong interest in this pharmacy and quickly secured a deal with Shamas, who plans to merge the brick-and-mortar pharmacy with his existing online pharmacy nearby, which is something we’re seeing more and more of in the sector. I wish him every success and am confident the pharmacy will thrive under his ownership.”
Christie & Co managed the transaction and continues to report heightened interest in pharmacies positioned for blended community and online service models.
