A new business-led board has been established in Hull and East Yorkshire to support Cancer Research UK’s regional and national work. Business Beats Cancer Hull & East Riding will bring together senior figures from local companies to coordinate fundraising activity and promote awareness across the business community.
The group forms part of a wider national network and represents its latest regional expansion. Members include representatives from rradar, Everywhen, Hinks Insurance Brokers, Horncastle Group, For Entrepreneurs Only, Stallard Kane, and Cancer Research UK.
The board’s first programme of fundraising events will be announced soon. Money raised will be directed to research and clinical trials across Yorkshire, as well as national initiatives such as the National Biomarker Centre in Manchester, which is advancing early diagnosis and personalised treatment.
Funds will also support work to improve cancer medicines and reduce long-term side effects in young patients. The initiative contributes to Cancer Research UK’s long-term ambition to increase the number of people surviving cancer for at least a decade by 2034.
