Council sets out updated direction for St Andrew’s Dock

Hull City Council has released a new character appraisal for the St Andrew’s Dock Conservation Area as part of its review of all 26 heritage zones across the city. The document outlines the historic and communal features that remain on the site, where the loss of several buildings since its 1990 designation has reshaped the area’s profile.

The appraisal launches a formal consultation period that will guide future planning activity. Businesses, developers, landowners, and organisations with interests along the western waterfront are encouraged to examine the proposals, which set out the elements likely to influence investment and regeneration decisions.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, portfolio holder for economic renewal, housing and organisation development at the council, said: “St Andrew’s Dock Conservation Area is one of the most important and visible areas of maritime heritage outside the city centre.

“The council wants to hear from those with a vested interest in the area and those that would like to see a positive use for the area, so I urge people to have their say whilst they can.”

The council is gathering insights from people linked to the fishing and maritime sectors formerly active at the dock. Feedback will shape the conservation priorities and support long-term planning for this strategically located part of Hull.
