Dishoom secures approval for new Leeds restaurant

Dishoom has received planning approval to open a new restaurant on Vicar Lane in Leeds. The Bombay-inspired restaurant group will occupy an 8,000 sq ft, two-storey space that was previously home to Flannels. The site sits between the Victoria Gate and Victoria Quarter shopping centres, positioning the restaurant within one of the city’s busiest retail and leisure districts.

The move is part of Town Centre Securities PLC’s (TCS) wider redevelopment of key city centre properties. Work on the site has begun, with Dishoom’s opening scheduled for late spring.

Charles Newman, Associate Director, Estates at TCS, commented:
“We are thrilled that planning approval has been granted for Dishoom’s arrival in Leeds. Dishoom’s signature Bombay-inspired hospitality and attention to detail make it a perfect fit for our city’s dynamic retail and leisure offering. We’re confident this new restaurant will become a major attraction for food lovers and visitors alike, further strengthening Leeds’ reputation as a cultural and culinary destination.”

The Leeds venue will feature the restaurant group’s established design style, which draws from the Irani cafés of Bombay. It will serve its signature range of Indian dishes, while also introducing a dish explicitly created for Leeds diners.

Dishoom’s “Meal for a Meal” initiative will extend to the new location. For every meal purchased, the restaurant donates one to a child in need through its charity partners in the UK and India. Across its existing UK restaurants, the group has provided more than 25 million meals.

The addition of Dishoom marks another step in Leeds’ ongoing effort to attract high-profile hospitality brands and reinforce its reputation as a key dining destination in the North.
