Harrogate College rebuild progresses after funding deadline extension

Construction work is moving ahead on Harrogate College’s £20 million redevelopment, supported by a revised completion deadline that safeguards the Department for Education investment. The project had faced the risk of cancellation when planning delays made the original 2026 deadline unachievable, prompting intervention that secured an extension and allowed the rebuild to proceed.

The redevelopment is designed to modernise the campus and strengthen its role in the region’s skills pipeline. Updated facilities and an expanded vocational offer are expected to support local employers by increasing access to industry-relevant training.

Danny Wild, Principal of Harrogate College, said, “This rebuild will provide a significant and much-needed upgrade that will enable us to build on the good work we’re doing to equip our students with the skills they, and North Yorkshire’s employers, really need.

“The new purpose-built facility will allow us to expand the breadth and quality of our curriculum, so we can continue to provide high-quality vocational education for many years to come. I am grateful for Tom’s support in helping get this rebuild over the line and underway.”

The confirmed timeline provides greater certainty for contractors, partners, and businesses that depend on the college as a source of future talent.
