Ison Harrison expands north with new Middlesbrough office

Yorkshire-based law firm Ison Harrison has opened a new branch in Middlesbrough, marking its 24th office across the region and reinforcing its growth strategy in northern England.

The firm’s expansion extends its services into Teesside with a particular focus on inquest, personal injury, and civil liberties law. The new location will be led by experienced lawyer Sarah Magson, who previously worked at Watson Woodhouse Solicitors and has built a strong reputation for her expertise in complex inquests and civil claims.

New branch manager Sarah said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Ison Harrison and to be leading the new Middlesbrough office. The firm’s values and focus on people-first legal service really appealed to me, and it’s fantastic to bring that approach to an area I know so well. Middlesbrough has a strong legal community and a real sense of pride. I’m looking forward to developing the branch and continuing to support clients who value expertise and care in equal measure.”

Magson will head a six-strong team including Dawn Makepeace, Alistair Smith, Sophie Kendall, Sarah Finney, and Paul Henderson. Together, they will specialise in inquests, human rights claims and actions against public authorities, forming one of the most specialised legal teams of its kind in the North.

The office is situated opposite Middlesbrough Law Courts, within a hub that also houses several other law firms and chambers.

Ison Harrison became a fully employee-owned business in 2022 and has since almost doubled its turnover, opened new offices in Brighouse and Skipton, and distributed profit shares to staff. The firm now employs over 400 people and holds 13 Law Society accreditations, including Lexcel and Clinical Negligence.
