ITI Group expands nuclear capabilities with Noveum acquisition

ITI Group has completed the acquisition of Noveum Ltd, a specialist in nuclear engineering services, strengthening its position across the UK’s civil and defence nuclear sectors. The move brings additional design expertise in industrial automation and functional safety systems, increasing ITI Group’s technical capacity and Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel.

Noveum’s integration broadens ITI Group’s ability to deliver engineering design, project scoping, implementation and long-term support across the nuclear lifecycle. The acquisition also provides Noveum with access to ITI’s wider client base and expands the combined group’s Front End Engineering Design offer for complex nuclear projects.

ITI Group Chairman, Mark Hardy further comments “The UK’s 2050 nuclear ambitions and post-review defence commitments mark a surge in opportunity, and ITI’s acquisition of Noveum positions it to take a leading position in this important sector’’. His assessment reflects the wider market outlook, with demand rising across civil and defence programmes.

The deal arrives during a period of significant sector growth. The UK defence industry employed 181,500 people and recorded £36.4bn in turnover in 2024, with exports representing more than a third of revenue. The 2025 Strategic Defence Review confirmed increased government spending in this area, signalling sustained demand for specialised engineering services.

Civil nuclear activity is also accelerating. The UK’s Civil Nuclear Roadmap outlines plans to deploy up to 24GW of nuclear power by 2050, requiring major investment in new-build capacity and the safe decommissioning of older sites. ITI Group and Noveum already operate in these areas and are positioned to support the next phase of national infrastructure development.
