Leeds-based, family-run print specialist, Zebra Print Group, has helped to make this Christmas a happier one for more than 100 children in need in Knottingley by collecting a selection of necessities that will help them feel safe and warm this festive season.
In partnership with chartered accounting firm, Kirk Newsholme, the Zebra team has spent the last month collecting more than 150 winter must-haves including hats, scarves, gloves, bed socks and coats for children aged between five and 15-years-old, along with Christmas presents for less fortunate families in the area, including toys and books.
After collecting the essentials Zebra Print Group’s managing director, Samantha Overton, took the donations to the Kirk Newsholme office at Thorp Park, where they were added to a wider collection. The items collected as part of the initiative will be handed out to children on the ‘Christmas Express’ – a train-inspired festive activity held at The Addy where children will go on an adventure to help Santa and receive a gift as a thank you.
Speaking about taking part in the Christmas collection, Samantha said: “Being able to support children and families in our local community is something that means a great deal to us at Zebra Print Group. We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our team and partners, and we’re proud to play even a small part in helping The Addy bring comfort, warmth and a little extra joy to those who need it most this Christmas.”
The Addy in Knottingley – also known as the Old Quarry Adventure Playground – is a registered charity that offers free, open-access play sessions and support services for local children, young people and the elderly. Established in 1972, it provides a safe space for adventure play, runs specific sessions for different age groups and children with additional needs.
Commenting on why Kirk Newsholme partnered with Zebra Print Group on this charity collection, Amy Carter said: “The staff at Kirk Newsholme decided to support The Addy this Christmas having previously helped out with some volunteer work there earlier in the year – we sent a small team of staff across to their playground and help to refurbish some of the play equipment that the children use.
“We’ve seen first-hand how The Addy help vulnerable families in the local area and so it came naturally for us to want to support them this Christmas too – they provide a wonderful service for the families who rely on them and we hope the collection that Zebra Print have been very generous in helping us with will put a bit of sparkle into Christmas for these children.”
