Leeds United’s proposal to expand Elland Road into one of the UK’s largest football stadiums will be reviewed by Leeds City Council’s City Plans Panel on 30 October.
The club’s £200 million redevelopment project, submitted in July, outlines a major transformation of the venue’s West and North stands. The upgrade would increase seating capacity to around 53,000, meeting rising ticket demand and aligning the ground with UEFA Category 4 standards.
Plans cover the complete redevelopment of the John Charles Stand and outline approval for the Don Revie Stand. The new West Stand design includes upgraded changing rooms, media areas, staff facilities, ticketing, retail, hospitality, and a museum. Additional provisions include new away coach parking and a broadcast compound.
The council will assess the scheme’s potential transport impact, parking, and travel arrangements before approving. The development is expected to create around 400 construction jobs and 190 operational roles once completed.
The Elland Road expansion forms part of the government’s £10 billion investment commitments announced at the first Regional Investment Summit, positioning Leeds United’s project as a key regional regeneration initiative.
