Rotherham to receive £20m regeneration fund targeting business growth and community renewal

Rotherham is set to receive £20 million in investment over the next decade through the Government’s Pride in Place programme, aimed at revitalising key areas and supporting local economic development.

The initiative, supported by Rotherham Council, will direct funding to central parts of the town, including the business and industrial zones around Templeborough, Masborough, and Clifton. The investment plan focuses on restoring high streets, improving safety and infrastructure, expanding skills development, and strengthening opportunities for business growth and employment.

Councillor John Williams, Cabinet Member for Transport, Jobs and the Local Economy, said: “This is welcome investment in communities that have gone without for too long. And while it will certainly not fix all the challenges faced by our residents it will help us create safer, healthier, and stronger communities where we hope people will feel proud to live and work.

“We’ve listened to residents and built a plan that reflects their priorities. Over the coming months, we will be able to set out plans in more detail to ensure we are getting the best value from this funding.”

The council’s cabinet will review the Pride in Place Regeneration Plan on 17 November before submitting it to the Government for approval. A new Neighbourhood Board—comprising public, private, and voluntary sector representatives—will oversee delivery and guide collaboration between local enterprises, education providers, and community organisations.

The first stage of the initiative is scheduled to begin in April 2026, followed by additional investment rounds in 2030 and 2033. A second phase is also planned, with another £20 million earmarked for Maltby East to continue the town’s regeneration and support long-term business and community resilience.
